FORS and CLOCS encourages and incentive’s the safe and sustainable operation of commercial vehicles. From car-derived vans to heavy good vehicles, the scheme commits to enable all fleet operators to attain and maintain the best possible level of productivity and efficiency with the least impact on society and the environment and to facilitate continuous improvements in operating standards. FORS raises the bar, promotes best practice and provides a recognisable credential through an independent audit, staff training and support material. FORS is now regarded as ‘the’ accreditation scheme by fleet operators, their clients and enforcement agencies alike.
Fleet operators shall ensure all journeys are compliant with the CLOCS Standard.
Fleet operators shall ensure all vehicle operations meet the requirements as described as Silver in the FORS Standard, addressing the issues of:
The operator can define their own scope for fleet compliance accreditation to respond to specific client requirements and their own business needs. This may require separate accreditation for vehicles under and over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight that operate within the same fleet.
This specification is for customers to meet the minimum requirements of FORS Silver compliance. A rear camera system is added for rigid vehicles while nearside front corner proximity sensors are fitted in lieu of nearside sensors. The nearside blind spot is located at the front corner of the vehicle with the camera mounted to the deflector (CF) or wing mirror (LF) giving the driver vision down the nearside of the vehicle.
The 7” monitor will display the nearside camera when the left hand indicator is activated and the rear camera (rigids only) when the reverse gear is engaged.
An in-cab audible and visual display mounted to the nearside pillar is activated when an object is detected by the sensors.
When the left indicator is activated a message can be heard on the outside of the vehicle, ‘Caution vehicle turning left’. The system includes a 3 minute night silent cut out.
FORS Gold best practice includes the addition of a front and offside camera with simultaneous digital video recording of all cameras, a solution which we can also offer which records to a one terabyte hard drive. We also provide 4G remote access to video footage for live viewing and playback along with vehicle data, including location, and alerts through our Spillard Live software platform. This is now our most popular safety solution for commercial vehicle operators with users including DHL, One Stop Stores, Fowler Welch, AF Blakemore and Lomas Distribution.
